 Graphite electrode is defined as an electrode that is employed to offer high level of electrical conductivity and the capability to sustain extremely high level of dissipated heat. Graphite electrodes are primarily utilized in the manufacturing of electric arc furnace (EAF) steel and refinement of steel, and the equivalent smelting process,like silicon,ferro-alloy, white phosphorus/ yellow phosphorus and etc.
By Product , graphite electrode can be classified as: Ultra-high Power (UHP), High Power (HP), Regular Power (RP);

Storage/usage Instructions
Graphite electrode should avoid the moisture, the dust,the contamination and collision.
You should be careful when moving and pilling electrode with forklift. Collision and overload is forbidden to avoid slide or breakage.
When loading and unloading with bridge crane, operator must follow instruction accordingly . No standing under crane.   Electrode should be stored in clean and dry place,when pilling up outdoors, it should be covered with rain-proof tarpaulin.
When lift electrode, use revolved resilient hanger and put soft truss pad under the electrode nipple to avoid breakage of thread.
Before connecting, clean electrode threads and sockets with compressed air.
Lift the electrode to furnace, using hoister with resilient hanger, find out the center and move slowly downwards.
Clean small opening with compressed air when upper and lower electrodes declined to gap between 20-30mm.
9.9 Use special torque wrench to tighten according to suggested moment of force as per the specifications given in the table; mechanical way, hydraulic pressure or wind pressure equipment should be available for need in case.
Electrode clamp holder must be placed between the two white guard lines. Clamp holder and interfaces of the electrode must be cleaned regularly with the allowed good touch. Cooling water jacket of the clamp holder should be tight to prevent water leakage.
The upper and of electrode should be covered in order to avoid oxidation and dust.
To avoid the electrode breakage, insulating materials should NOT be put into the furnace The working current of electrode must NOT exceed the max. allowed current.
In order to avoid electrode breakage, during materials feeding in furnace, put the large materials in lower part and small materials in upper part.
